History
Completed in 1874, the St. Augustine Light replaced an older Spanish-era watchtower and is one of Florida's most recognizable coastal landmarks. The black-and-white spiral daymark and red lantern room were designed for maximum visibility. The site now operates as a maritime museum, and visitors can climb the 219 steps to the gallery for sweeping views of the Atlantic and the old city.
