History
Also known as Cape Cod Light, Highland Light was first established in 1797 and rebuilt as the current tower in 1857. Set on a 140-foot clay cliff in North Truro, its 66-foot tower gives a focal plane of 170 feet above the sea. Threatened by cliff erosion, the lighthouse was moved 450 feet inland in 1996 — echoing the relocation of Cape Hatteras — and remains open to seasonal climbers.
